Whizkid Games is a scientifically tested program of therapeutic animations and computer games that help children with moderate to severe autism to develop independent living skills and flourish.

With an exceptional quality of production, spirited animations and games address the areas where autistic children have the greatest need. Whilst targeted at children, the inclusive resources may be used by and are effective for autistic people of any age.

Whizkid Games are developed in collaboration with medical experts, special education consultants, parents, and autistic children, to ensure that no harm is done in their use.

2009 milestone

2009

Whizkid Games and its accompanying information website, Autism Games, were officially launched by the CEO of Autism Victoria, Murray Dawson Smith, in December 2009.

2010–11 milestone

2010–11

Whizkid Games wins various awards, including the Premier's Design Award, Best Online Game (Melbourne Advertising & Design Club) and the Swinburne University of Technology Vice-Chancellor's Award for Community Engagement.

2014–15 milestone

2014–15

Whizkid Games is included in an 18-month, scientific trial into the efficacy of Autism Games that was conducted by Dr Leigh Elliott as the primary study for his PhD in Clinical Psychology. The study found that Whizkid Games was an effective video game intervention that improved social skills and behavioural function for children with ASD.

2020 milestone

2020

Whizkid Games was extraordinarily successful; however, the games were built on the Adobe Flash platform, which was no longer supported as of December 2020.

2024 milestone

2024

Autism Games is named a Telematics Trust grantee. A prestigious recognition for innovation in research-backed, tech-enabled education. The Trust was established by the Victorian Government in Australia to advance technology-led learning.

2025 milestone

2025

Whizkid Games is relaunched as a mobile app, with a long-term strategy of future projects for autistic children planned.
